Bring skin longevity into your practice.
We’re partnering with a limited group of dermatology, aesthetic and longevity practices to launch Formula 01 in 2027.
Request the clinical information to see if it fits your practice, and join the founding network.
The foundational layer of your aesthetic care plan.
Every treatment you offer asks skin to repair itself, and the result depends on the biology doing the repair. Formula 01 supports that biology every day, between appointments, so everything you do in clinic has more to build on.

The foundationOur founding practices
78% of US adults already take supplements. Now there’s an evidence-based protocol for skin you can recommend.
Skin longevity is a new way of thinking about skin, and it can’t be learned from a shelf. Patients arrive with a model built by the skincare aisle. Changing it takes a conversation with someone they trust, and that conversation happens in your room.
So we built the partnership around you. Founding practices are trained and certified in skin longevity through our academy, and we educate patients alongside you through PR, events, communications and social media.

Nobody was funding this research.
So we built a company to do it.
For a century, skincare has invested in what goes on the surface. Nutraceutical R&D never got the same investment, so an important question has rarely been asked: what happens to skin when you act on its internal biology?
The literature on oral actives for skin is large but fragmented. Thousands of studies show improvement in individual skin aging markers. What’s missing is the synthesis: a map of the full network of skin aging, and a protocol built against it that accounts for how its actives interact, aimed at rejuvenating skin.
That synthesis is why Epillon exists. Our research program is building the map for how skin longevity works, offering a new layer of skin care that works beneath the surface.

We're building the map on skin longevity
To develop a truly comprehensive, evidence-based solution for skin rejuvenation, we spent years mapping how aging science and skin biology intersect: ten factors of skin aging across three domains, and how each one feeds the others. It's the framework our research is built on, and the one every Formula 01 active is chosen against.
Under enough stress, cells stop dividing but refuse to die, sometimes called “zombie cells.” They linger and secrete a steady stream of inflammatory signals and tissue-degrading enzymes, known as the SASP. That secretion is the damage: it inflames nearby tissue, dissolves the matrix, and nudges healthy neighbors toward the same fate.
Molecular Stress
Skin aging begins with assault. Intrinsic time and extrinsic exposure (UV, pollution, diet, lifestyle) generate a cluster of damaging signals: oxidation, glycation, inflammation, and the secretions of senescent cells. They amplify one another and drive the damage inward, into the cells themselves, where the cellular failures they trigger will, in turn, loop back and create more damage drivers.

Aging skin carries a low, constant inflammation that never fully resolves, what researchers call inflammaging. It's fueled from three directions: the SASP of senescent cells within the skin, environmental stress from outside, and, in an emerging link, the gut, whose weakened barrier and imbalanced microbiome leak inflammatory signals into the bloodstream. Inflammation and senescence feed each other, the engine of the whole cycle.

Every repair a cell makes or tissue it builds (including collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and the barrier) runs on energy. With age, mitochondria, the cell's power plants, grow less efficient and leak more free radicals, while NAD⁺, the coenzyme that powers repair, is drained by the mounting demand for it. As the supply falls, the cell can no longer afford the costly work of maintaining and rebuilding itself, and damage goes uncorrected.
Cellular Health
Inside every skin cell runs the machinery that keeps skin young: producing energy, renewing itself, and maintaining its genetic instructions. As damage mounts, these systems falter, and the failure cuts both ways: a cell that can no longer power or repair itself can't maintain the structure it builds, while its own breakdown feeds fresh damage back to the drivers around it.
Healthy skin renews itself constantly: clearing damaged proteins and worn organelles (autophagy and mitophagy), keeping proteins correctly folded (proteostasis), and replacing spent cells from a stem-cell reserve. With age, each of these housekeeping systems slows. Damaged material builds up instead of being cleared, stoking inflammation and draining the reserve the skin relies on to rebuild.

A cell is only as good as its instructions. Over time DNA takes on damage, the protective caps on chromosomes (telomeres) shorten, and the epigenetic marks that tell a cell which genes to run begin to drift. Repair systems fight to hold the line, but as energy fails they fall behind, and cells carrying too much damage shut down into senescence, looping the cycle back to its start.

Collagen and elastin are the dermal scaffold that gives skin its firmness and spring. Aging tips the balance from building to demolition: enzymes (caused by molecular stress factors) called MMPs break the fibers down faster than they're rebuilt, and the fragments left behind act as danger signals that feed more inflammation. What you see is fine lines, slackness, and lost firmness.
Skin Structure
When the cells that maintain skin are in poor health or depleted, its architecture gives way: the collagen scaffold, the water-holding matrix, and the protective barrier all decline. This is the layer you finally see and feel: lines, laxity, dryness. But it isn't the end of the process. The breakdown itself releases signals that feed inflammation and strain the cells above, driving the whole cycle onward.
Hyaluronic acid and other glycosaminoglycans let the dermis hold enormous amounts of water. Much of the "plumpness" of young skin is water held in this gel. As the cells that make them decline, skin's ability to hold water from within falls, distinct from a surface moisturizer, leaving it thinner, duller, and prone to crepiness.

The outermost layer, the stratum corneum, is a brick-and-mortar seal of cells and lipids (ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids) that keeps moisture in and irritants out. As these lipids deplete the seal leaks: water escapes (rising transepidermal water loss) and the breach releases alarm signals that drive still more inflammation. Skin turns drier, more sensitive, more reactive.

When excess sugar from your diet binds to proteins, it forms advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), rigid cross-links that stiffen tissue. In skin, they clamp onto collagen and elastin, turning a springy scaffold brittle. Accelerated by oxidative stress, glycation feeds straight into the stiffening and slackening of the dermal matrix.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS), unstable molecules produced by UV, pollution, and the cell's own energy-making, damage lipids, proteins, and DNA faster than skin can repair them. Often called the latent driver of skin aging, ROS rarely acts alone: it speeds up glycation, corrupts DNA, and injures the very mitochondria that generate it.

FAQ
Got questions? We’ve got expert-backed answers to help you navigate every step of your journey.
Formula 01 is formulated from published mechanistic research on each active. There is no finished-product human data yet. A mechanistic in vitro program is running now at an independent contract research laboratory, and multiple dermatologist-supervised randomized controlled trials follow, based on the outcome of the in vitro results. We will publish results, including negative findings, and send them to partner practices first.
Formula 01 works with skin's own rebuilding cycle. The surface renews in about four weeks. Collagen and elastin turn over across months. We suggest patients evaluate at three months and plan for six.
Formula 01 is designed to sit alongside topical regimens, energy-based devices, injectables, and resurfacing. Ingestible and topical act on different layers. Full contraindication and interaction guidance, including pregnancy, anticoagulant therapy, and photosensitizing agents, is documented in the clinical white paper.
No. Collagen supplements deliver one substrate. Aged skin is not short of raw material, it is short of the cellular machinery to build with. Formula 01 acts across the damage drivers, cellular function, and matrix rebuilding, while adding bioactive collagen peptides that act as a signal, and the requisite cofactors and building blocks to rebuild it.
Yes. Founding partners receive personal allocation ahead of launch. We would like you to have your own experience of it.
Your practice gets initial in-clinic inventory, an in-clinic welcome kit and a co-branded webpage for patients to sign up for refills. We handle all recurring fulfillment, shipping, customer service, and reorders on our end, making this as operationally light as possible.
